FAQ — Simple answers

How does this QR code thing work?

You tell Menu Link the web address you want people to visit. We make a QR image that points to a short Menu Link address (like https://menu-li.ink/r/XXXXX). When someone scans it, we count the scan and then send them to your web address.

That lets you see how many times a code was scanned while still sending people to your page.

Where do I put my website address?

Use the Destination URL field in the editor — that is the website people will go to after scanning.

When you edit a code, the editor shows this destination so you can change it anytime.

Why do I sometimes see a short Menu Link address?

The short address (the one that looks like /r/XXXXX) is used only inside the QR code so we can count scans. People who scan still end up at the destination URL you entered.

Which image should I download — SVG or PNG?

SVG is best if you want the image to stay sharp at any size (web or print). PNG is a regular image file that works everywhere — pick PNG if you need a specific pixel size or your system does not accept SVG.

For printing, choose a large PNG or use the SVG in a design program for best results.

What's a vCard?

Choose vCard if you want the QR code to add a contact to someone's phone. We store the contact info and the scanner can download it as a contact file. Choose URL when you want the QR to open a website.

Do you track personal data?

No. We only record the fact that a code was scanned and when it happened. We do not collect names, device IDs, or locations by default.
